May Festivals in the Mountains
April 28, 2012
Wow, is April almost over already? I guess I’ve been too busy to notice the year flying by, but here we are, with May a couple days away. As much as I hate saying, “where did the time go?”, I’m glad May is here, because the coming month has a lot of great outdoor events. On the 12th, head to the Sacramento Mountains Museum for the Sacramento Historical Society’s Centennial Walking Tour of Cloudcroft. It kicks off at 8am, and you’ll get a guided tour of our town, learning about its origins as a timber source for the El Paso and Northeastern Railroad Company, and its reputation as a vacation spot in the early 20th century, a tradition that continues to this day.
The following weekend offers an opportunity to improve the community with your own two hands—the New Mexico Rails-to-Trails Association is going to spend the morning of Saturday May 19th working on a section of the Grand View Trail from Bridal Veil Falls to Fresnal Canyon Road, and they’ll supply the tools—bring your own water and wear some good work boots. NMRTTA has plenty of work for all skill levels, so if you have older kids who need to do chores, maybe they can bag up leaves or push a wheel barrow.
Then, on May 26th and 27th, Zenith Park comes alive with the sights and sounds of Mayfair! The 35th Annual Mayfair features live music, a juried art show, food and much more—it’s a great weekend when the town comes together, along with another thousand or so folks from all over, and it’s one of Cloudcroft’s signature events. If you’ve never been to Cloudcroft before, Mayfair weekend is a great time to visit and see what our little village is all about. If you come to the festival next month, give us a call—maybe we can convince you to stay! Or better yet, stop by, we would love to show you real estate for sale. If you are looking to invest, we are your one stop shop. We can show any property even if we don’t have the listing!
